Kuala Lumpur (30 June 2015) – In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan and in the spirit of caring and giving, Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (EXIM Bank) today hosted a “Program Sehari Bersama Anak-Anak Yatim” for Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan As-Shakur held at its headquarters.

During the event, 70 deserving children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan As-Shakur received ‘Duit Raya’ from EXIM Bank and its media guests. EXIM Bank also handed over a RM5,000 cheque to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan As-Shakur towards the upkeep of the home. The contribution was presented by Y.Brs. Puan Norzilah Mohammed, Acting Chief Executive Officer of EXIM Bank and witnessed by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Agil Natt, Members of the Board of EXIM Bank while receiving on behalf of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan As-Shakur was its Principal, Tuan Haji Jamali Mustapa.

Speaking at the event, Dato’ Agil Natt said that the “Majlis Berbuka Puasa Bersama Anak-Anak Yatim” is an annual event to share the success of the Bank in posting commendable business growth.

“This event has become a tradition for EXIM Bank in the month of Ramadan and we look forward to celebrate many more occasions with orphanages and share the company’s success by giving back to those in need,” said Dato’ Agil.

“Our CSR contributions went to charitable associations or charitable activities and non-profit religious organizations. As an example, this year we have donated to more than 60 mosques and mushollas throughout Malaysia,” added Dato’ Agil Natt.

Located in Bandar Tasik Puteri, Rawang, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan Ash-Shakur (PEKEAS) is a shelter home that cares for orphans and the elderly. Founded in 2007, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan Ash-Shakur is currently home to about 100 residents.

In addition to the sumptuous spread of local delights, the evening tapered off with the Muslims performing the Isya’ and Terawih prayers as sign of gratitude and respect for the holy month.

EXIM Bank will continue to organize such program from time to time to help the needy and less fortunate.
