KUALA LUMPUR, 17 March 2025 – Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (EXIM Bank) has devised its inaugural EXIM Graduate Trainee Programme as part of the Malaysia Global Connect Youth Programme (MGCYP). As a key component of the MGC initiative, the MGC Youth: Inter-Agency Graduate Trainee Programme 2025 is being rolled out in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and its agencies, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).
The scheme equips recent graduates with practical skills and real-world knowledge, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to Malaysia’s expanding role in the global economy. It empowers graduates by preparing them for the outside world, equipping them to make valuable contributions across key industries. This initiative seeks to tackle youth unemployment and foster positive social impact through effective solutions, such as career development programmes, workforce readiness training, and policy advocacy.
“EXIM Bank is committed to strengthening Malaysia’s position in the global trade and investment landscape. Through the EXIM Graduate Trainee Programme, developed in collaboration with MITI, MIDA, and MATRADE, we are equipping the next generation of professionals with the practical experience and skills needed to excel in the evolving global economy. This partnership reflects a shared vision to cultivate a dynamic and skilled workforce that will contribute to the growth of Malaysia’s trade, investment, and export sectors in driving long-term and sustainable economic development,” said Nurbayu Kasim Chang, President and Chief Executive Officer, EXIM Bank Malaysia.
The EXIM Graduate Trainee Programme 2025 is a comprehensive six-month development journey, offering participants on-the-job training, mentorship, and networking opportunities across government and trade sectors. Participants will gain invaluable experience while contributing to the growth of Malaysia’s trade ecosystem and supporting initiatives in global commerce. Upon successful completion and the acquisition of essential skills and experience, graduates gain access to a range of career opportunities within the broader sector.
The trainees recently had an insightful engagement session with YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, the Minister of MITI. It aimed to foster productive connections and provide the trainees with a cohesive overview of government policies and initiatives that drive the nation’s growth.
