KAJANG, SELANGOR, Thursday (9 May 2019) – In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan, Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (EXIM Bank), its staff and together with The Star Media Group had jointly organized a visit to the old folk’s home of Pusat Jagaan Al-Fikrah in Kajang, Selangor to break fast with the centre’s senior citizens and members of the surrounding area.
Al-Fikrah’s upkeep relies on donations from various organizations and kind-hearted individuals to ensure the care of the senior citizens housed at the Centre. Apart from the charity that they receive, the residents also makes the effort to do farming in support of the centre’s financial needs.
According to Encik Azhar Awang Kechil, Acting President/Chief Executive Officer of EXIM Bank, “This year’s Iftar Programme is special and different from the previous Iftar events organized by the Bank because this is the first time two organizations are working closely together to share and fulfill their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to help those less fortunate and in need of assistance”.
While The Star Media Group makes available the food trucks under its Food Truck Project for breaking fast, EXIM Bank contributes cash and in-kind to help assist in the upkeep of the centre. Two dryers were also presented during the event which was much needed by the home. Bed sheets, pillow cases and towels were also distributed for their daily usage.
Prior to Al-Fikrah, the Food Truck had already visited EXIM Bank office for its annual Iftar Programme, breaking fast with the Bank’s staff and the surrounding community. The Food Truck Project will continue to visit several locations in and around the Klang Valley during this month of Ramadhan, supported by EXIM Bank Malaysia.
