EXIM Bank Gives Back To The Community

MELAKA, Tuesday (26 March 2019) – For the year 2019, EXIM Bank has drawn up a whole variety of CSR programmes in order to provide substantial assistance to various social groups that are in need of assistance.

Within the first quarter of this year, Rumah Seri Kenangan Cheng Melaka (RSKCM), a welfare home for the elderly, and Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina (YTPZ) that runs a haemodialysis centre for the underprivileged, has been identified to be the recipients of the Bank’s cash and in-kind contribution to help ease their operational cost. Both centres are situated in Melaka and were visited by EXIM Bank officials today.

Rumah Seri Kenangan Cheng Melaka has been taking care of the elderly since 1982 through the public and Government donations. Currently, the centre accommodates 159 old folks from different ethnics and background. Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina (YTPZ) started its operations in 2015 and currently operating 160 haemodialysis machines in providing free treatment to the underprivileged.

It is hoped that the small contribution from the Bank will assist both centres in any way. For EXIM Bank, CSR is a key component of its corporate culture and an integral part of its business. To this effect and to-date, it has lined up throughout the years several CSR initiatives that revolve around engagements with various communities, environmental sustainability and emphasizing the promotion of marketplace to reflect the CSR as its key component.

According to Azmin Hamzah, EXIM Bank’s Head of Communications, most notably among the initiatives are Program Desa Harapan, which is a collaborative effort with Kementerian Pembangunan Luar Bandar that starts in March 2019 and ends in December 2019, and organizing a month-long e-waste management campaign beginning 5 April 2019.
