45. SEGMENT INFORMATION

The following segment information has been prepared in accordance with MFRS 8 Operating Segments, which defines the
requirements for the disclosure of financial information of an entity’s operating segments.

It is prepared on the basis of the “management approach”, which requires presentation of the segments on the basis of
internal reports about the components of the entity.
Segment information are presented in respect of the Group’s business segments as follows:

(1) Banking
Banking comprises activities involving conventional and Islamic facilities to finance and support export and import
of goods, services and overseas projects as well as financial guarantee facilities with an emphasis on non-traditional
markets.
(2) Insurance and Takaful

Insurance and Takaful comprise activities involving providing export, credit and political risks insurance/takaful.
(3) Support

Support refers to non-core operations mainly involving finance, treasury, administration, human resource and others
which support the Group’s overall operation.
