Management Discussion and Analysis Ensuring Sustainability Commitment to Lead Upholding Accountability Financial Statements 15
Amidst the progress we sustained on all fronts, we did
not forget that our people are the drivers of growth.
We focused on nurturing the potential of our team and
driving higher performance by investing in continuous
training, covering the technical competency of the
Bank’s main function and soft skills in inculcating the core
values.
Going into 2024, we are heartened by resilient domestic
expenditure, with support emanating from the expected
recovery in electrical and electronics (E&E) exports,
increase in tourism earnings, continued progress of
multi-year infrastructure projects, and catalytic initiatives
under the national master plans, such as National
Industry Masterplan 2030 (NIMP).
We remain mindful that we are in a period of transition
and transformation as the Bank’s efficacy, pertinence and
role for the future is being shaped by MOF, MITI and
BNM. We look forward to this new development and are
grateful to these authorities for their ongoing guidance
and assistance in shaping a more MADANI Malaysia.
Since taking over as Chairman, I have witnessed how
this transformative journey is well supported by my
Board colleagues, Shariah Committee Members,
Senior Management and all our employees. I therefore
would like to take this opportunity to thank all in our
team who have contributed to this turnaround year
before completing their term of service in 2023.
We extend our sincere appreciation to former Board
Chairman Dato’ Azman Mahmud and Shariah Committee
Chairman Prof Datin Dr Rusni Hassan, as well as departing
directors Datuk Dr Syed Muhamad Syed Abdul Kadir,
Dato’ Dr. Amiruddin Muhamed and Madam Pauline Teh
Abdullah for their invaluable contributions throughout
their tenure.
Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate leveraging on the
diverse talents and experiences of new members who
joined our team in 2023. Mr. Raymond Fam Chye Soon,
Dr. Mastura Abdul Karim and En Hasli Hashim have
joined our Board as new Directors, while Dr. Ahmad
Zakirullah Mohamed Shaarani and Ustaz Mohd Bahroddin
Badri are new members of the Shariah Committee.
Together, let us navigate EXIM Bank towards even
greater accomplishments, reinforcing the Bank’s role as a
development finance institution dedicated to generating
positive stakeholder value.
